about

This song is about tunnelling back through the layers of armour I've covered myself with, to rediscover the artist I am and will always be. I am singing it to myself. After spending so much time trying to forget that I am a songwriter, pretending to be somebody else, I finally realised that I'm never truly free unless I am living that life.

lyrics

Please oh please just let the hurting ease
Let the sadness and the solitude be over
It cuts so deep I feel it in my sleep
And I can't recall a day that I was sober

Days just pass without me
Colours fade to grey
I can hear me laughing
Like it's yesterday
But all the rest is clouded
The edge is hard to trace
And I just want to feel a line of sunlight on my face... come back to me

Chorus

I'm feeling sick, I'm sinking quick, 'feels like my heart is full of bricks
I'd give a thousand lonely nights to bring my colours back to life
When I sleep it's dark and deep and kills my dreams in one clean sweep
I'm not chained but I'm not free until I tunnel back to me

Why oh why my broken spirit cries and my sorrow spins around me like a dancer.
I search like hell this tiny prison cell but I can't rewind my mind to find the answer

Days just pass without me
Colours fade to grey
I can hear me laughing
Like it's yesterday
But all the rest is clouded
The edge is hard to trace
And I just want to feel a line of sunlight on my face... come back to me

Chorus

I'm feeling sick, I'm sinking quick, feels like my heart is full of bricks
I'd give a thousand lonely nights to bring my colours back to life
When I sleep it's dark and deep and kills my dreams in one clean sweep
I'm not chained but I'm not free until I tunnel back to me
